Option 3 : Only (b)

The textbook is considered to be a primary source of learning for both students and teachers. Students learn a lot of concepts and get a lot of practice by solving the questions given in the textbook. Textbook acts as a primary guide for the students to know about what all topics they are going to be taught and how the process will progress from one lesson to other. The language used in the textbook must not be far removed from the everyday speech of the students because:

  • If the language is far from students' everyday speech then students cannot connect or relate with the concepts given in the textbook.
  • Even if it is a mathematics textbook language plays an important role because one has to understand the sentences to find out what the problem is.
  • The simple and understandable language which is appropriate to students makes the textbook more effective as compared to the one which has a good but complex language.
  • If the language is related to students' daily life they can easily understand the word problems and statements which are very useful to arrive at a specific conclusion and enhance learning.

Hence "The language used in textbook must not be far removed from the everyday speech of the students"  is most appropriate for the mathematics textbook of primary classes.

On the other hand, the other two options are given or wrong about the mathematics textbooks of primary classes because the textbooks should include stories and a lot of practice questions which may create curiosity and interest in the students.
