1. Supplementary estimate

While a work in progress some additional works may be thought necessary for the development of a project which was not foreseen when the original estimate was framed, the estimate when prepared to cover all such works are known as a supplementary estimate. |

2. Cube Rate Estimate |
This type of estimate done by multiplying the volume of the building by the unit cubic rate achieved from the previously (also recent) estimate. |
| 3. Plinth Area Estimate |
Plinth area estimate can be achieved by multiplying the values of plinth length, plinth width & plinth area rate. Here the plinth area is referred to as the external plinth area of the building at floor level. |

4. Revised estimate |
When sanctioned estimate is exceeded by more than 5% either from rates being found insufficient due to change in the price level or from any cause except important structural alterations. |

5. Preliminary estimate/Approximate estimate |
An approximate estimate made to find out the approximate cost in a short time. |

6. Complete estimate |
An estimate of all the items which are related to the work in addition to the main contract or the detailed estimate. |

7. Detailed Estimate |
Includes the quantities and cost of everything required for satisfactory completion of work. |
