Thyristor turn-on methods:
With anode positive with respect to cathode, a thyristor can be turned on by any one of the following techniques:
- Forward voltage triggering: by applying sufficiently large anode voltage
- Gate triggering: by applying sufficiently large gate current
- dv/dt triggering: by applying anode voltage at a sufficiently fast rate
- Temperature triggering: by increasing the temperature of SCR but at large values of temperature, the SCR may get damaged.
- Light triggering
