Nuclear fusion is a type of nuclear reaction in which there is a collision of two or more atomic nuclei at high energy levels. There is a formation of a new nucleus.

In the Sun, the temperature is around 15 Million kelvins and pressure is millions of times higher than the Earth's surface.

At this high temperature and pressure, the Coulomb barrier is overcome and nuclear fusion takes place.
