On 10 April 2017, Lok Sabha passed the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and AIDS (Prevention Control) Bill, 2017. The aim of the Bill is to prevent and control the spread of HIV and AIDS, prohibits discrimination against persons with HIV and AIDS. Under this, no person shall be compelled to disclose his HIV status except with his informed consent, and if required by a court order.
