- Munda revolt is a well-known tribal revolt that took place during the colonial rule in 1899.
- It was led by Birsa Munda.
- The main reason was the grievance against the British rulers for altering with the land ownership system of the Mundas by giving the rights of the lands to the outside zamindars.
- The Mundas attacked the zamindars, churches and British rulers under the leadership of Birsa Munda who declared himself as 'God'.
- Birsa Munda was arrested in 1900 and died of cholera in jail at the age of 25 years.
