According to Article 158 of the Indian Constitution, in order to become the Governor, one should be at least 35 years of age apart from being an Indian citizen.
He or she should not hold any office of profit or should not be a Member of the Legislature of the Union or any other state.
If any member of the legislature is appointed as the Governor, he ceases to hold that post once he is appointed as the Governor.
The term of a Governor's office is five years.
