- THE CONSTITUTION (SEVENTY-FOURTH AMENDMENT) ACT(74th AMENDMENT ACT), 1992 introduced the Municipalities.
- A new Part IXA was added in article 243 P to 243 ZG.
- This Act gave constitutional status to the municipalities thus bringing them under the purview of the Constitution.
- The act came into effect on 1st June 1993.
