It is a material made up of two or more substances physically combined with each other while keeping intact their identities.
A substance cannot be separated into other kinds of matter by any physical process.
For example, while dissolved Sodium Chloride (NaCl) can be separated from water through a physical process of evaporation, the constituents of NaCl itself cannot be separated by a physical process (Na and Cl).
