Synchronous motor:
- The rotor rotates with synchronous speed and also rotor MMF and stator MMF rotates with the same speed
- Rotor and stator MMF are stationary with respect to each other
- The speed of the rotor of this motor is the same as the rotating magnetic field
- It is a fixed speed motor because it has only one speed, which is synchronous speed
Induction motor:
The induction motor always runs at a speed that is less than the synchronous speed. I.e. N < Ns
