Option 1 : Quantity I > Quantity II

Given:

Work done by group 1 = 1/15

Efficiency of group 2 = 20% less than group 1

Group 1’s manufacturing time = 2 days

Formula used:

Work done = (1/T) + (1/t)

T = Time taken by group 1 to complete a task (In days)

t = Time taken by group 2 to complete a task (In days)

Calculations

Group 2 is 20% less efficient than group 1 hence, if group 1 completes task in 100 days than

group 2 will need 120 days

Ratio of efficiencies ⇒ Group 1: Group 2 = 100: 120

Let’s assume that work done by group 2 is X Days

⇒ 100 : 120 = 15 : X

⇒ X = 120 × 15 / 100

⇒ X = 18 days

Work done by Group 1 and Group 2 in units (LCM of 15 and 18) = 90 units

Efficiency of Group 1 = 90/15 = 6 units/day

Efficiency of Group 2 = 90/18 = 5 units/day

Now, group 1 stopped manufacturing after 2 days

⇒ Work done by group 1 = 2 × 6 = 12 units

⇒ Work done by group 2 = 90 – 12 = 78 units

Time taken by group 2 to complete the work = 78 / 15 = 26 / 5 = 5.2 days

Quantity I = 18 Days

Quantity II = 5.2 Days

∴ Quantity I > Quantity II
