Option 2 : 9.1

Given:

AB = 11.2 cm, BC = 8.4 cm and CD = 6.3 cm

Concept:

Let the circle touches the sides AB, BC, CD and DA of quadrilateral ABCD at P, Q, R and S.

∵ The tangents drawn from external points are equal.

∴ DR = DS

⇒ CR = CQ

⇒BP = BQ

⇒AP = AS

By adding all these equations, we get CD + AB = AD + BC

Calculation:

11.2 + 6.3 = 8.4 + AD

⇒ 17.5 - 8.4 = 9.1 = AD

∴ AD = 9.1 cm
