Mechanism of Action

How Long Does it Take to Work?

Absorption

Opthaflox Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% is well absorbed when taken orally and is rapidly distributed throughout the body. The peak concentration of lomefloxacin in the blood occurs approximately 2 hours after taking the drug.

Route of Elimination

Opthaflox Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% is eliminated from the body primarily through the kidneys. Some of the drug is also metabolized in the liver.

Dosage

Adults and children (above 1 year of age): Instill 2-3 times daily 1 drop into the lower conjunctival sac. At the beginning of the treatment application should be more frequent, apply 5 drops within 20 minutes or 1 drop every hour during 6-10 hours. Duration of the treatment: 7 to 9 days.

The recommended dose of lomefloxacin is 400 mg taken orally once per day. Depending on the type of infection being treated, the dosage may be adjusted to 400 mg taken twice daily or 600 mg taken once daily.
