Omesoft Capsule 1000 mg (O3EEs) are containing fatty acids, primarily eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) extracted from fish oil. It is used to reduce the serum total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, triglyceride optimization, and in the treatment of hypertension.

Uses For

Omesoft Capsule 1000 mg are used for the treatment of high triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia) in adults and to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). It can also be used to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke, to reduce other coronary risk factors, and to reduce the risk of death from coronary heart disease.

Mechanism of Action

Omesoft Capsule 1000 mg interfere with the synthesis and activity of lipoproteins involved in the reverse-transport of cholesterol from peripheral tissues to the liver. By binding to the membrane of cultured endothelial cells, it modulates and reduces levels of various inflammatory mediators in the blood. In addition, O3EEs inhibit the production of very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), reduce the activity of fatty acid synthesis enzyme and reduce the size of both LDL and VLDL particles.

How Long Does it Take To Work

It usually takes about 4 to 8 weeks to benefit from the effects of Omesoft Capsule 1000 mg. However, some patients may experience a response sooner or later than this.

Absorption

Omesoft Capsule 1000 mg are absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After being incorporated into plasma phospholipids, EPA and DHA are found in red blood cells and other tissues.

Route of Elimination

Omesoft Capsule 1000 mg are mainly eliminated in bile, with the majority of it being converted to ethyl arachidonate and other metabolites that are then excreted in the feces.

Dosage

In hypertriglyceridaemia: it can be taken as a single dose of 4 capsules (4 gm) or 2 capsules (2 gm) twice daily.

In previously myocardial infarction patients: It can be taken 1 capsule (1 gm ) daily with food. Patients should be placed on an appropriate lipid lowering diet before receiving Omega-3 Acid Ethyl Esters and should continue this diet during treatment.

In joint inflammation associated with mild arthritis: The dose is 2.7 gm daily.

In mood disorders & impulse control and age-related macular degeneration: The dose is 1 capsule (1 gm) per day. Or, as directed by the registered physician.

Omesoft Capsule 1000 mg should be taken as directed by a qualified health professional. The suggested dosage for adults is 1 to 4 g daily in 2 to 4 divided doses with meals.
