Introduction

Elivier Tablet 500 mg is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve the symptoms of arthritis like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout. It is used to treat mild to moderate pain caused by inflammation.

Uses

Elivier Tablet 500 mg is used to reduce pain, swelling, and stiffness caused by arthritis. It can also be used for treating ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Mechanism of Action

Elivier Tablet 500 mg works by blocking the production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Its mechanism of action is still not clear but it acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), preventing the formation of prostaglandins, which are natural substances known to cause inflammation and pain.

How long does it take to work?

Elivier Tablet 500 mg starts working after about 20 minutes after being taken orally. The effects of the drug can be felt up to 8 hours.

Absorption

Elivier Tablet 500 mg is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract following oral administration. The bioavailability is approximately 95%. Peak plasma concentrations are reached at 1.5 to 4 hours after a single oral dose.

Route of Elimination

Elivier Tablet 500 mg is eliminated mainly in the urine and a small amount in feces. The renal clearance of nabumetone is approximately 25% of the total elimination rate.

Nabumetone 500 mg & 750 mg Tablet: Oral
Nabumetone 1000 mg Tablet: Mix 1 tablet thoroughly in a glass (250 ml) of pure water and drink it completely.

Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis: The recommended starting dose is 1000 mg taken as a single dose with or without food, Some patients may obtain more symptomatic relief from 1500 mg to 2000 mg per day. Nabumetone can be given in either a single or twice-daily dose. Dosages greater than 2000 mg per day have not been studied The lowest effective dose should be used for chronic treatment.

Moderate or severe renal insufficiency: Caution should be taken in prescribing Nabumetone to patients with moderate or severe renal insufficiency The maximum starting doses of Nabumetone in patients with moderate or severe renal insufficiency should not exceed 750 mg or 500 mg, respectively once daily. Following careful monitoring of renal function in patients with moderate or severe renal insufficiency daily doses may be increased to a maximum of 1500 mg and 1000 mg, respectively.

Use in pediatric patients: Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.
  • For adults: The recommended dose of nabumetone for adults is 500 to 1000 mg per day, given in two divided doses.
  • For children and adolescents (ages 6 to 17 years): The recommended dose of nabumetone for children and adolescents is 10 to 15 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, given in two divided doses.

Administration

Elivier Tablet 500 mg should be taken orally with a full glass of water. It should be taken with food or milk to reduce the risk of stomach upset. It should not be taken together with antacids as this may reduce its effectiveness.

Side Effects

Common side effects of nabumetone include nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, and increased blood pressure. Other serious side effects include easy bruising or bleeding, stomach pain, skin rash or itching, and kidney or liver problems.

Toxicity
