Ram and Sam are two employees of a company. Salary of Ram is 37.5% of the total salary of Ram and Sam. Sam saves 60% of his salary and total savings of Ram and Sam is 50% of their total income. If their average expenditure is Rs. 16000, what is the salary of Sam? Correct Answer Rs. 40000
Given:
Salary of Ram = 37.5% of the total salary of Ram and Sam
Sam saves 60% of his salary
Total savings of Ram and Sam = 50% of their total income
Average expenditure of Ram and Sam = Rs. 16000
Concept used:
Total savings of Ram and Sam is 50% of their total income means, total Expenditure of Ram and Sam also will be 50% of their total income
Calculation:
Total savings of Ram and Sam = 50% of total income
⇒ Total expenditure = 50% of Total income
It is given that average expenditure = Rs. 16000
∴ Total expenditure = 16000 × 2 = 32000
⇒ Total income = 32000 × 2 = 64000
Now, Salary of Ram = 37.5% of the Total income.
∴ salary of sam will be 62.5% of the total income
∴ Salary of Sam = 64000 × (62.5/100) = Rs. 40,000
