A shopkeeper sells a Vivo mobile at 10% profit and Samsung mobile at 10% loss, then, he gets Rs. 600 as loss. But if he sells Vivo mobile at 12% profit and Samsung mobile at 5% loss, then, he get Rs. 540 as profit. Then, what is the cost price of Samsung mobile?
A shopkeeper sells a Vivo mobile at 10% profit and Samsung mobile at 10% loss, then, he gets Rs. 600 as loss. But if he sells Vivo mobile at 12% profit and Samsung mobile at 5% loss, then, he get Rs. 540 as profit. Then, what is the cost price of Samsung mobile? Correct Answer Rs. 18,000
Calculation:
Selling Price = × Cost Price
Suppose the cost price of Vivo mobile and Samsung mobile is Rs. x and Rs. y, respectively.
According to question,
10% of x - 10% of y = - Rs. 600
⇒ x - y = - 6000 ---(1)
Again, according to question,
⇒ 12% of x - 5% of y = 540
⇒ 12x - 5y = 54,000 ---(2)
On substrating from equation (2), we have
⇒ 12x - 5y - 5x + 5y = 54,000 - (- 30000)
⇒ 7x = 84,000
⇒ x = 84,000 / 7
⇒ x = Rs. 12,000
Put this value in equation (1), we have
⇒ 12,000 - y = - 6,000
⇒ y = (12,000 + 6,000)
⇒ y = Rs. 18,000
∴ The cost price of Samsung mobile is Rs. 18,000
