Sonia had some money. She distributed the money among her employees. 15 % of the total amount she gave to Shabnam and kept 10 % for future use. Out of the remaining amount, she gave to Ankur and Arjun in the ratio of 2 ∶ 3 respectively. If the Arjun got Rs. 9000 more than the Ankur. What was the total amount that Sonia had? Correct Answer Rs. 60,000
Given:
Percentage of amount given to Shabnam = 15 %
Percentage of amount kept for future use = 10 %
Amount Arjun got = Rs. 9,000 + Amount Ankur received
Calculation:
Let the initial amount is Rs. x
Amount given to Shabnam = 15 % of x
⇒ 15x/100
Amount kept for future use = 10% of x
⇒ 10x/100
Remaining amount = x – (25x/100)
⇒ 75x/100
According to the question:
Amount received by Ankur = (2/5) × (75x/100)
Amount received by Arjun = (3/5) × (75x/100)
⇒ – = 9000
⇒ (225x/500) – (150x/500) = 9000
⇒75x/500 = 9000
⇒ x = (9000 × 500)/75
⇒ x = Rs. 60,000
∴ The initial amount was Rs. 60,000
