Given below are two quantities named A and B. Based on the given information, you have to determine the relation between the two quantities. You should use the given data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose among the possible answers. If a train of length 400m crosses a cave of length of 500m in 3 minutes Quantity A: Find the speed of the train. Quantity B: If a man pass the stationary train in 7 min, what would be the speed of the man?

Given below are two quantities named A and B. Based on the given information, you have to determine the relation between the two quantities. You should use the given data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose among the possible answers. If a train of length 400m crosses a cave of length of 500m in 3 minutes Quantity A: Find the speed of the train. Quantity B: If a man pass the stationary train in 7 min, what would be the speed of the man? Correct Answer
Quantity A > Quantity B

Given:

Train length = 400m

Length of cave = 500m

Time to cross cave = 3 minutes = 180 seconds
Formula Used:

Speed = Distance/Time

Quantity A:
⇒ Speed of the train = (Train length + length of cave )/Time to cross cave

⇒ Speed of the train = (400 + 500)/180

⇒ Speed of the train = (900)/180

⇒ Speed of the train = 5 m/s

Quantity B:
Distance to travel = 400m (∵ Train length = 400m)

Time taken by man = 7 × 60 = 420s

⇒ Speed of the man = (Train length )/Time to cross stationary train

⇒ Speed of the man = 400/420 = 0.94 m/s

∴ Quantity A > Quantity B
