What was the number of pairs of brown socks in the original order? Correct Answer 25

Calculation

Let the Price of Brown socks = z

And the number of Brown socks = n

According to ques, the price of black pair was thrice that of a brown pair

Price of Black pair = 3z

Now, wrong bill is 100% more means it is twice than the correct bill.

⇒ n × 3z + 5 × z = 2 ( n × z + 5 × 3z)

⇒ 3n + 5 = 2n + 30

⇒ n = 25

∴ The number of pairs of brown socks in the original order is 25.
