Given:
The outer curved surface area of the hollow cylinder is 11880 cm2. The quantity that can be filled in the hollow cylinder is 55440 cm3
And the height of the cylinder is 90 cm.
Formula Used:
The volume of cylinder = πR2H, and Curved surface area = 2πRH
Where R, H is the radius and height of the cylinder.
Calculation:
Let the outer radius and the inner radius of the given cylinder be R and r units and the thickness be t cm.
Now by using the above mentioned formula and given the curved surface area of the cylinder is 11880 cm2
⇒2(22/7)R×90 = 11880, R = 21 cm ----(1)
Now using the above formula the volume of the cylinder is 55440 cm3
⇒ (22/7)r2×90 = 55440, r2 = 28×7
⇒ r = 14 cm ----(2)
From (1) & (2) we get
⇒ Thickness (t) = 21 – 14 = 7 cm
∴ The thickness of the cylinder is 7 cm
