From three cities A, B and C data is collected. The population of city B is 25% more than the population of city A and population of city C is 80% of the population of city B. What is the population of city B if sum of population of city A and city C is 1,25,000? Correct Answer 78,125

Given:

The population of B is 25% more than population A

The population of C = 80% of population of B

Solution:

Let the Population of city A be 100x

Then, the population of city B = (125/100) × 100x = 125x

Population of C = (80/100) × 125x = 100x

∴ According to given question

100x + 100x = 125000

⇒ 200x = 125000

⇒ x = 625

∴ The population of city B = 125 × 625 = 78,125

∴ The population of city B is 78,125
