Consider the set {3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}. from this select any subset of 3 elements. Multiply two numbers from the 3 element set and add the third number to it. What is the smallest number that you can get from all the 3 element sets?
Consider the set {3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}. from this select any subset of 3 elements. Multiply two numbers from the 3 element set and add the third number to it. What is the smallest number that you can get from all the 3 element sets? Correct Answer 17
Given
Universal set = {3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}
Concept used
Subset is formed from the element which is given in Universal set.
Calculation
We need to find smallest number so we take smallest digit from Universal set
Subset set of 3 element = {3, 4, 5}
According to the question
Smallest number by subset according to condition = 3 × 4 + 5 = 17
∴ The correct answer is 17
