The difference between a two digit number and the number obtained by interchanging the positions of its digits is 36. What is the difference between the two digits of that number ? Correct Answer 4

Calculation:

Let the unit digit be = y

Let the ten's digit be = z

The original number = 10z + y

The number formed by interchanging the positions = 10y + z

As per the question, (10z + y) - (10y + z) = 36

⇒ 9z - 9y = 36

⇒ z - y = 4

∴ The difference the two digits of the number = 4
