An observer 1.5 m tall is standing 28.5 m away at the same level as the foot of a tower. If angle of elevation of the observer watching the top of the tower is 45 degrees then what is the height of the tower? Correct Answer 30 m

Given:

An observer 1.5 m tall is standing 28.5 m away at the same level as the foot of a tower.

Angle of elevation of the observer watching the top of the tower is 45 degrees

Concept used:

When Angle of elevation is 45° then H : P : B = √2 : 1 : 1

Calculation:

ATQ, CE = 1.5 m

and ED = 28.5 m = CB and in ΔABC,  Angle of elevation is 45°⇒ AB = BC

then AD = AB + BD = 28.5 + 1.5 m

⇒ AD = 30 m
