A shopkeeper has a sale of Rs. 7435, Rs. 6927, Rs. 4855, Rs. 9230 and Rs. 6265 for 5 consecutive months. How much sale must he have in the sixth month so that he gets an average sale of Rs. 6200? Correct Answer Rs. 2488

Let the sale for 6th month = x

Hence, sum of Sales for 6 months =7435 + 6927 + 4855 + 9230 + 6265 + x = 34712 + x

Average of Sales = Sum of Sales per month/No. of months

⇒ 6200 = (34712 + x)/6

⇒ 37200 = 34712 + x

⇒ x = 2488
