We have, surface area of a cube = 6L2, where L is side of the cube.

(Since each face of the cube is a square of side L, Area of a face is L2.)

There are 6 such sides for a cube, so the total surface area = 6L2)

Total outside area of the cube = surface area = 6 × 12 × 12 = 864 sq.ft.

∵ For 15 sq ft, 1 kg paint is needed.

∴ For 864 sq. ft, 864/15 = 57.6 kg paint is needed.

Cost of paint is 50 Rs per kg.

So, for 57.6 kg, cost = 57.6 × 50 = Rs. 2880
