In a party, disposable cups in the shape of frustum of cone, with upper diameter 6 cm, lower diameter 4 cm and height 9 cm are arranged for serving water. A cylindrical shaped jug of height 15 cm and diameter 14 cm was used for serving water. How many disposable cups can be completely filled using 19 jugs of water?

For a frustum of cone with base radii of R1 and R2 units and height of H units,

Volume of frustum of cone = (1/3) πH (R12 + R22 + R1R2)

⇒ Volume of a disposable cup = (1/3) π × 9 × (32 + 22 + 3 × 2) = 57π cm3

Also, volume of cylinder with radius r and height h = πr2h

⇒ Volume of a cylindrical jug = π × 7 × 7 × 15 = 735π cm3

∴ No. of cups that can be filled by 19 jus of water = (735π × 19) /57π = 735/3 = 245
