Two students, Ravi and Vikas had some books. One of them had 10 books more than the other. The books with Vikas were 60% of the total books with them. How many books did Vikas have? Correct Answer 30
Formula:
If a = x% of b
⇒ a = x/100 × b
Solution:
∵ Vikas has 60% of total books which means Vikas has more books than Ravi
Let the books with Ravi and Vikas will be x and (x + 10)
Total books = x + x + 10 = 2x + 10.
Now,
x + 10 = (60/100) × (2x + 10)
⇒ 10x + 100 = 12x + 60
⇒ 2x = 40
⇒ x = 20
∴ Number of books with Vikas = x + 10 = 30
