In a movie theatre there are three types of seats : Balcony, Middle and Lower class, which are in the ratio of 2 : 5 : 8. The cost of the tickets is in the ratio 9 : 7 : 2. Find the total money collected by the theatre from the balcony class if they collected a total of Rs. 34500 from one show? Correct Answer Rs. 9000
Given:
Ratio of Balcony, Middle and Lower class seats = 2 ∶ 5 ∶ 8
Cost of tickets = 9 ∶ 7 ∶ 2
Total amount collected from one show = Rs. 34500
Formula used:
Total amount collected = Number of seats × Cost of that ticket
Calculations:
Let the number of the balcony, middle and lower class seats be 2a, 5a and 8a and the price be 9b, 7b and 2b respectively
Total amount collected from one show = (2a × 9b) + (5a × 7b) + (8a × 2b)
⇒ 18ab + 35ab + 16ab = 34500
⇒ 69ab = 34500
⇒ ab = 500
Total amount collected from balcony class = 2a × 9b
⇒ 18ab
⇒ 18 × 500
⇒ Rs. 9000
∴ The total amount collected from the balcony class is Rs. 9000
