Given:
Pipe A can fill a tank in 12 hrs
Pipe B can fill a tank in 15 hrs
Pipe C can empty the full tank in 10 hrs
Formula:
Total work = Efficiency × Time
Calculation:
Let total work be 60 units (LCM of 12, 15 and 10)
Efficiency of A = 5 units/hr
Efficiency of B = 4 units/hr
Efficiency of C = -6 units/hr
Total efficiency of A, B and C = 5 + 4 – 6 = 3 units/hr
If all three pipe open together, then time taken to fill the tank = 60/3 = 20 hrs
