Time (t1­) = 10 sec

Case 2

No. of cats (n2) = n2

No. of rats caught (w2) = 100

Time (t2) = 100 sec

Concept used:

(N × T)/W = Constant

Where, N = No. of people doing work

T = Time taken to complete the work

W = Amount of work done

⇒ n1t1/w1 = n­2t2/w2

Calculation:

n1t1/w1 = n­2t2/w2

⇒ (10 × 10)/10 = (n2 × 100)/100

⇒ n2 = 10

∴ 10 cats will be required to catch 100 rats in 100 seconds.
