80 boys and 60 girls forms a NGO to help the needy person. After few months, sum girls join the NGO. How many members does the NGO have now, if the ratio of boys to girls is 2 ∶ 5?  Correct Answer 280

Given∶

80 boys and 60 girls forms a NGO

Final ratio of boys to girls is 2 ∶ 5

Formula Used∶

a ∶ b = c ∶ d

Product of Extremes = Product of Means

Calculation∶

In starting, Number of boys = 80

Number of girls = 60

Final ratio of boys to girls = 2 ∶ 5

After few months, let x number of girls join the NGO

According the question,

80 ∶ (60 + x) = 2 ∶ 5

⇒ 400 = 120 + 2x

⇒ 2x = 280

⇒ x = 140

So, 140 new girls join the NGO.

Total members = 80 + 60 + x = 80 + 60 + 140 = 280

∴ 280 were there in NGO.
