Tom purchases 7 keyboards and 8 mice for Rs. 7000. Jerry buys 8 keyboards and 6 mice for Rs. 6900. How much it will cost Oggy, if he wants to buy 6 keyboards and 5 mice? Correct Answer Rs. 5350
Given:
Tom purchases 7 keyboards and 8 mice for Rs. 7000
Jerry buys 8 keyboards and 6 mice for Rs. 6900
Calculation:
Let the price of a Keyboard be "K" and the price of a mouse be "M".
For Tom,
7K + 8M = 7000 ---- (I)
And for Jerry,
8K + 6M = 6900 ---- (ii)
Multiplying eq (i) by 3 and multiplying eq (ii) by 4, we get
21K + 24M = 21000 ---- (iii)
32K + 24M = 27600 ---- (iv)
Now subtracting eq (iii) from eq (iv), we get
⇒ 11K = 6600
⇒ K = 600
Now putting this value of K in eq (i) we get,
⇒ 7 × 600 + 8M = 7000
⇒ 8M = 7000 - 4200
⇒ M = 2800/8
⇒ M = 350
The value for Oggy for 6 keyboards and 5 mice = 6K + 5M
⇒ 6 × 600 + 5 × 350
⇒ 3600 + 1750
⇒ 5350
∴ The required value is Rs. 5350.
