The table shows the annual consumption (in hundred tones) of tea in five states (A, B, C, D and E) across six years (2014  to 2019) State Year A B C D E 2014 112 130 136 105 117 2015 122 138 150 140 120 2016 124 134 142 144 132 2017 132 154 198 149 193 2018 135 148 187 151 145 2019 153 136 198 150 187 The consumption of tea in which state and year is closest to the average consumption of tea in State A over six years?

Study the given table and answer the question that follows. Correct Answer B in 2014

Formula used:

Average consumption = Sum of the consumption ÷ No of years

Calculation:

Average Consumption of tea of state A over 6 years = (112 + 122 + 124 + 132 + 135 + 153) ÷ 6

⇒ 778 ÷ 6 = 129.67 (Hundred tones)

Going by the options:

Consumption of state C in 2016 = 142 (Hundred tones)

Consumption of state B in 2014 = 130 (Hundred tones)

Consumption of state E in 2019 = 187 (Hundred tones)

Consumption of state D in 2018 = 151 (Hundred tones)

∴ By observation, the average consumption of tea of state A (129.67)  is closest to the consumption of tea of state B in 2014 (130).
