- The Statue of Unity is located on a river facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam on river Narmada in Kevadiya colony, Narmada District in the Indian State of Gujarat.
- It is the world's tallest statue, with a height of 182 metres (597 feet) which is almost double the height (including the pedestal) of the Statue of Liberty, USA.
- Noted sculptor Ram V. Sutar, a Padma Bhushan Awardee is the sculptor for the Statue of Unity.
- India’s largest engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was assigned the responsibility for designing, engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of the project.
- The statue was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 October 2018, the 143rd birth anniversary of Patel.
- The Statue was built in just 46 months.
- Loha Campaign:-
- A countrywide ‘Loha Campaign’ were conducted during the year 2013-14, in which used farm tools were collected from farmers across the country as their voluntary contribution to the iconic project.
- The campaign received 134.25 metric tonnes of iron which was converted into reinforcement bars used in the construction of the project.
- The previous tallest statue in India was the 41 m (135 ft) statue of Veera Abhaya Anjaneya Hanuman Swami at the Paritala Anjaneya Temple near Vijayawada in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
