Which of the statements given above is/are correct? Correct Answer 1 and 2 only
The Correct Answer is Option 3 i.e. 1 and 2 only.
Personalities of the Indian National Movement
- Subhas Bose was deeply attracted to military discipline.
- Gandhi was against the military on the whole but he was not against defensive wars.
- For example - if the innocent were attacked, then there was no option but to defend oneself.
- So, of course, the military was required for self defence, but it was to be on a limited scale. Hence, Statement 3 is NOT correct.
- According to Gandhi, a country should be modelled on India of the past.
- His writings call for a pre-modern, morally-enlightened and apolitical Indian state. Hence, Statement 1 is correct.
- Bose, on the other hand, favoured a democratic state but only after the process of nation rebuilding and the eradication of poverty and social inequality.
- And, for this, the nation should have an authoritarian character in the early years. Hence, Statement 2 is correct.
