In 2002, Meenu's age was one-third of the age of Meera, whereas in 2010, Meenu's age was half the age of Meera.

Calculations :

Let the age of Meera in 2002 be 'M'

So the age of Meenu in 2002 will be M/3

Age of Meera in 2010 will be (M + 8) years 

Age of Meenu after 8 years will be (M/3) + 8 years 

According to the question 

(M/3) + 8 = (1/2) of (M + 8) 

(2M/3) + 16 = M + 8 

M/3 = 8 

⇒ M = 24 years 

Age of Meera in 2002 = M = 24 years 

Age of Meenu in 2002 = M/3 = 8 years

Date of birth of menu = 2002 - 8 

⇒ 1994 

∴ Option 2 will be the correct choice.
