The steady speed of the disc in the energy meter is achieved when Correct Answer Operating torque is equal to the braking torque
- In an energy meter, the braking torque is produced to maintain a steady speed and equal to driving torque
- A permanent magnet positioned near the edge of the aluminium disc from the braking system
- The aluminium disc (shown in the figure) moves in the field of this magnet and thus providing the braking torque
- The position of the permanent magnet is adjustable, and therefore, braking torque can be adjusted by shifting the permanent magnet to different radial positions
