Each of the question below consists of a question and three statements number I, II and III given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question. Two person X and Y together can make 25% of total number of bricks in 4.8 days. Another person Z can make 50 bricks in a day. What is the time taken by person X and Z together to make the total number of bricks? I. Dimensions of a brick is (3cm × 4cm × 5cm) while the dimension of a cuboids when all the bricks are put together is (72cm × 80cm × 50cm) and ratio of number of days taken by X and Y alone to make the total number of bricks is 3 : 2. II. The total number of bricks is 4800 and person Y can make 150 bricks in day. III. Total volume of all the bricks together is 1.008m3 and dimension of a bricks is (5cm × 6cm × 7cm) and time taken by Z to make total number of bricks is 200 % more than the total time taken by person Y to make total number of bricks.

Correct Answer Any one of them alone is sufficient.

Time taken by X and Y together to make 25% of total bricks = 4.8 days

Time taken by X and Y together to make 25% of total bricks = 4.8 × 4 = 19.2days

(1/X) + (1/Y) = (1/19.2)      ----(1)

Total number of bricks made by Z in a day = 50

From I:

Total number of bricks = (72cm × 80cm × 50cm) / (3cm × 4cm × 5cm) = 4800

Total time taken by Z = 4800/50 = 96 days

Let number of days taken by X and Y alone is 3a and 2a respectively.

From equation (1)-

(1/3a) + (1/2a) = (1/19.2)

(2 + 3)/6a = (1/19.2)

a = 16

Time taken when X and Z work together =

1/ = 1/ = 32 days

Statement I alone is sufficient.

From II:

Total time taken by Z = 4800/50 = 96 days

Total time taken by Y = 4800/150 = 32 days

From equation (1)

(1/X) + (1/32) = (1/19.2)

(1/X) = (4/192)

X = 48 days

Time taken when X and Z work together =

1/ = 32 days

Statement II alone is sufficient.

From III:

Total number of bricks = (1.008 × 1003)/(5cm × 6cm × 7cm) = 4800

Total time taken by Z = 4800/50 = 96 days

Total time taken by Y = 96 × (100/300) = 32 days

From equation (1)

(1/X) + (1/32) = (1/19.2)

(1/X) = (4/192)

X = 48 days

Times taken when X and Z work together =

1/ = 32 days

Statement III alone is sufficient.

Each of the question below consists of a question and three statements number I, II and III given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question. If the bus is travelling from Surat to Ahmadabad and a car is travelling from Ahmadabad to Surat, then what is the distance between Surat and Ahmadabad? I. The speed of a car is 40% less than the speed of bus. Bus started at 9 am and car started at 10 am and they meet at 3 pm of the same day. II. After travelling for 1 hour, because of traffic average speed of bus is decreased by 20% and covers distance between Surat to Ahmadabad in 11 hours. Original speed of car is 20% less than original speed of bus and before crossing bus it covered 200 km if starts 1 hour later than bus. After crossing car, bus covers remaining distance in 5 hours. III. Speed of bus is 10 km/hr more than the speed of car and before crossing car ratio of distances covered bus and car in same time was 5 : 4. Time taken by car to cover the distance between Ahmadabad and Surat is 2 hours 15 minutes more than time taken by bus to cover the same distance.
