When a generator supplies a lagging load it means that the magnetic energy is supplied to the load and the net reactive power gets reduced in the generator. In this case, what effect will armature reaction have?
When a generator supplies a lagging load it means that the magnetic energy is supplied to the load and the net reactive power gets reduced in the generator. In this case, what effect will armature reaction have? Correct Answer Demagnetization
Concept:
Effect of armature flux on main field flux is known as armature reaction. Under lagging power factor load armature reaction effect is demagnetizing. Consider purely inductive load.
Due to lagging load, armature mmf will try to reduce the field mmf which will result in reduction of field flux. Hence this effect is demagnetizing.
Therefore correct option is '4'
