When can the discharge from the breast first be squeezed during pregnancy? Correct Answer in the 20th week
Concept:-
Discharge from the breast during pregnancy:
- In pregnancy, the breasts may start to produce milk weeks or months before you are due to have your baby.
- If nipples are leaking, the substance is usually colostrum, which is the first milk your breasts make in preparation for feeding your baby. It is a healthy sign that your body is preparing your baby’s food.
- Colostrum is particularly nutritious for babies and helps in early digestion. It contains high amounts of protein and is low on fats and sugar. It is also loaded with antibodies that protect your baby from falling sick.
- Some women notice leakage from the nipple during pregnancy, and this is normal. In pregnancy, milk may begin to form in the breasts weeks or months before your baby is born.
- Breasts start to produce milk (colostrum) from around 16-20 weeks of pregnancy.
- This is totally normal. Some women will notice this instantly as their nipples start leaking milk. For other women, this will come as a surprise as they have never seen a drop come out.
