Prashant bought a device from an online store for Rs. 22000, but it was faulty so he returned it, the company accepts a return after deducting 10%. The amount of money he lost in this whole transaction is what percent of the cost of the device he bought initially? Correct Answer 20.37%

Given:

For 1st order,

Cost = Rs. 22000, Amount lost = 10%

For 2nd order,

Cost = Rs. 19000, Amount lost = 10%

Formula:

X% of Y = X/100 × Y

Calculation:

Amount lost in first order = 10% of 22000 = Rs. 2200

Amount lost in second order = 12% of 19000 = Rs. 2280

⇒ Total amount lost = 2200 + 2280 = Rs. 4480

∴ Required percentage = 4480/22000 × 100 = 20.37%
