A, B, C, D and E participate in a running race. D moves faster than E by rate of 2 km/hr but slower than C at a rate of 1 km/hr. B moves faster than C by a rate of 1 km/hr and slower than A by 1 km/hr. What is the relative speed of the winner with respect to the person who completes at last (in km/hr)?

B moves faster than C by a rate of 1 km/hr and slower than A by 1 km/hr. What is the relative speed of the winner with respect to the person who completes at last (in km/hr)? Correct Answer 5
Let the speed of E be x km/hr
∴ Speed of D = Speed of E = x + 2
Speed of C = Speed of D + 1 = x + 2 + 1 = x + 3
Speed of B = Speed of C + 1 = x + 3 + 1 = x + 4
Speed of A = Speed of B + 1 = x + 4 + 1 = x + 5
A is the winner and E is the person who completes at last.
Their relative speed = x + 5 - x = 5 km/hr
