A is to the West of B who is to the North of C. S is to the West of A. B is to the South of F. The distance between S and B is 8 km and A is the mid-point between S and B. If the length of BF is 3 km, then find the shortest distance between A and F.

Given distance between S and B is 8 KM and A is the mid point between S and B so the distance between A and B is 4 km.

By Using Pythagoras theorem,

AF= AB2 + BF2

AF2 = 42 + 32

AF = 5 km

Hence, the shortest distance between A and F is 5 km.
