Total work = Efficiency × Time taken
Calculation:
Let efficiency of 1 man, 1 woman and 1 boy be x, y and z respectively, then
According to the question
5x × 10 = 10y × 10
⇒ x = 2y
⇒ x : y = 2 : 1 ----(1) × 2
Also, 10y × 10 = 25z × 8
⇒ 100y = 200z
⇒ y = 2z
⇒ y : z = 2 : 1 ----(2)
From equation (1) and equation (2)
⇒ x : y : z = 4 : 2 : 1
Total work = 5 × 4 × 10 = 200 units
Work done by 1 man, 2 women and 2 boys in 1 day = 1 × 4 + 2 × 2 + 2 × 1 = 4 + 4 + 2 = 10 units/day
∴ 1 man, 2 women and 2 boys complete the work in = 200/10 = 20 days
