Total 50 persons participated in a competition, 25 people played Tambola, 35 people played musical chair if everyone has participated in atleast one game, what is the ratio between the number of persons who participated in Tambola only and Musical chair only? Correct Answer 3 ∶ 5

Number of people who participated in Tambola n(T) = 25

Number of people who participated in musical chair n(M) = 35

Number of persons who participated in both the games n(T ⋂ M) = n(T) + n(M) – n(T ⋃ M) = 25 + 35 – 50 = 10

∴ Number of persons who took part only in Tambola n(T) = n(T) – n(T ⋂ M) = 25 – 10 = 15

Number of persons who took part only in Musical chair n(M) = n(M) – n(T ⋂ M) = 35 – 10 = 25

∴ Required ratio = 15/25 = 3/5 or 3 ∶ 5

∴ The ratio between the number of persons who participated in Tambola only and Musical chair only is 3 ∶ 5
