In a group of 15 friends average height of the group is 152 cm, but when one of the friends left the group for further studies and 3 more people joined their group now the average height of the group becomes 148. What is the height of the person who left the group, if the total height of three persons joined the group is 362 cm? Correct Answer 126 cm
The average height of the group of 15 friends is 152 cm
∴ Sum of height of the group = 152 × 15 = 2280 cm
Now one friend left the group and 3 new friends with total height of 362 cm joined them such that average height of the group becomes 148
Let the weight of person who left the group be x cm
∴ 2280 – x + 362 = 148 × 17
⇒ 2642 – x = 2516
⇒ x = 126
∴ The height of the person who left the group is 126 cm
