Given:

Percentage of candidate absent = 24%

Percentage of candidate who failed in both = 8%

Percentage of candidate who passed in both = 20%

Percentage of candidate who passed in Hindi = 50% 

Calculate:

Percentage of students who appeared in exam = (100 - 24)%

⇒ 76%

Let the percenatge of students who passed in English only be x

Percentage of students who passed in Hindi only = (50 - 20)%

⇒ 30%

As per question,

30 + 20 + x + 8 = 76

⇒ 58 + x = 76

⇒ x = 18

Percentage of students who passed in English only = 18%

∴ The percentage of students who passed in English only is 18%.
