Given : 

1. C is taller than A and D, and shorter than B and E.

C > A and D

B and E > C

Then, (B and E) > C > (A and D)

2. A is taller than D. 

A > D 

3. E is the tallest person. Thus E is the tallest person among them.

By combining all the above statements, we get :

E > B > C > A > D 

Therefore,  'A' is the 4th tallest. 

Hence, the correct answer is "A".
